My personal reflection

My personal reflection is usually in the form of a conversation with God and usually includes both sides of the conversation. I know it's weird but that's how the Lord speaks to me.

You are Simon the son of John; you will be called Cephas

John 1:35-42
John was standing with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, "Behold, the Lamb of God."  The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus.  Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, "What are you looking for?"  They said to him, "Rabbi" - which translated means Teacher -,
"where are you staying?"  He said to them, "Come, and you will see."  So they went and saw where Jesus was staying, and they stayed with him that day.  It was about four in the afternoon.  Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus.  He first found his own brother Simon and told him, "We have found the Messiah" - which is translated Christ -.  Then he brought him to Jesus.  Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon the son of John;  you will be called Cephas" - which is translated Peter.

You are Simon the son of John;  you will be called Cephas

Lord, I can see how the change of a name was a change of a person, a role, a new chapter or new book in their life.  I am starting to see the purpose and beauty of it.  I am not there Lord but I am so close to shedding this version of myself that I have been working with these past 18 months.   I believe that when I complete this leg of the journey.  There will be a new me, a better me.  I know that I will still be very far from the goal but I know I will be so much closer than I ever even thought I would or could get.

Lord, you have brought me so far, help me stay faithful and pliable to your will.  And Lord, I know there are more trials ahead.

Lord, hold me up during those times and never let me forget your promises.

Oh My God, I love you.
