My personal reflection

My personal reflection is usually in the form of a conversation with God and usually includes both sides of the conversation. I know it's weird but that's how the Lord speaks to me.

What are we going to do?

Every sin committed touches someone somewhere
Many of the Jews who had come to Mary and seen what Jesus had done began to believe in him.  But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.   So the chief priests and the Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and said, "What are we going to do?   This man is performing many signs.  If we leave him alone, all will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our land and our nation."  But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing, nor do you consider that it is better for you that one man should die instead of the people, so that the whole nation may not perish."  He did not say this on his own, but since he was high priest for that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation, and not only for the nation, but also to gather into one the dispersed children of God.  So from that day on they planned to kill him.

So Jesus no longer walked about in public among the Jews, but he left for the region near the desert, to a town called Ephraim, and there he remained with his disciples.

Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before Passover to purify themselves.  They looked for Jesus and said to one another as they were in the temple area, "What do you think?  That he will not come to the feast?"

What are we going to do?

Lord,
It seems that the Pharisees, all the Jews were wait for the Messiah.  It should have been obvious that he was the Messiah.  They were the ones that should have known, they knew the scriptures better than anyone.  They ignored the truth out of their desire to keep their power.  They had what they were looking for in front of their faces and they did not see it or did not want to see it, or did see it but ignored it.

How often is that true for me?  I have the truth or your will in front of me and I choose to do what I want instead.  Why Lord?  When I know that when I reject your will for me, I will suffer.  I am selfish and stupid.

That is human nature.  That is not how I made you, but it is what you become.  Do you see how one person’s sin can and does affect others?  Their sin can affect for all times even into eternity.  One sin can change everything, not just for those close by or immediately.  But it always affects someone somewhere.

Then knowing that why do I still do what I know is wrong?

That is what you have become flawed and sinful.  That is why Jesus came.  He cam eto save you from yourself.
