My personal reflection

My personal reflection is usually in the form of a conversation with God and usually includes both sides of the conversation. I know it's weird but that's how the Lord speaks to me.

Be merciful...Stop judging

God is the Judge
Luke 6:36-38
Jesus said to his disciples: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

"Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you."

Be merciful...Stop judging

Lord,
These are two more things on that list of so many that he threw at me and pounded me with. And as so many of them, it was true and I was not aware of.

How often, have I not been merciful and have been judgemental? How often have I expected the same from others that I expect from myself? And I expect perfection from myself. Lord, I believe I have made progress here but it does not come naturally for me the way it does for others.

I know, everyone has to work with the nature that's been given to them and your nature is to be harsh on yourself and others and expect perfection. That is something you picked up in your childhood. You know it and you are aware of it and you have to be strong and resist it and turn it around. You are more culpable because of your awareness and because you have the grace and you know you do. Keep trying and it will get easier and it can become what comes natural. You can change your habits with practice. That is not set in stone or impossible. It is within your reach.
